Job Title: Welder/Fitter
NOC Code: 7237
Description\Duties
- Layout, position and secure parts and assemblies according to specification, using straight edge, combination square, calipers and ruler
- Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment
- Cuts workpiece, using powered saws, hand shears, or chipping knife
- Melts lead bar, wire, or scrap to add lead to joint or to extrude melts scraps into reusable form
- Installs or repairs equipment, such as, lead pipes, valves, floors, and tank linings
- Observes tests on welded surfaces, such as hydrostatic, x-ray, and dimension tolerance to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications
- Inspect grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using micrometer, caliper, and precision measuring instruments
- Grinding, hand filing and scraping of rough material
- Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly and welding operations
- Performs preventative maintenance on all tools and equipment needed to perform job
- Has working knowledge of adjusting valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc
- Adhere to and maintain to all policies and procedures and health and safety measures as prescribed by the company and the law
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School/GED preferred
- Skilled Trades Schooling an asset
- Experienced welder, 3-5 years experience
- Previous experience as a welder/fitter preferred
- Knowledgeable on maintenance and operation of various machinery
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Knowledgeable of safe work practices and precautionary measures
Salary: Based on experience
