Description\Duties

  • Layout, position and secure parts and assemblies according to specification, using straight edge, combination square, calipers and ruler
  • Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment
  • Cuts workpiece, using powered saws, hand shears, or chipping knife
  • Melts lead bar, wire, or scrap to add lead to joint or to extrude melts scraps into reusable form
  • Installs or repairs equipment, such as, lead pipes, valves, floors, and tank linings
  • Observes tests on welded surfaces, such as hydrostatic, x-ray, and dimension tolerance to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications
  • Inspect grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using micrometer, caliper, and precision measuring instruments
  • Grinding, hand filing and scraping of rough material
  • Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly and welding operations
  • Performs preventative maintenance on all tools and equipment needed to perform job
  • Has working knowledge of adjusting valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc
  • Adhere to and maintain to all policies and procedures and health and safety measures as prescribed by the company and the law
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications  

  • High School/GED preferred
  • Skilled Trades Schooling an asset
  • Experienced welder, 3-5 years experience
  • Previous experience as a welder/fitter preferred
  • Knowledgeable on maintenance and operation of various machinery
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Knowledgeable of safe work practices and precautionary measures

Salary: Based on experience
