Job Title: HR Assistant

Description\Duties
- Apply HR best practices, when following up with employees from various departments
- Act as a first point of contact for employees in the HR office, conducting initial meeting and screening to determine if next level support is required.
- Assist with Performance Reviews, Performance Improvement Plans, Progressive Discipline when required
- Promote company’s reputation as “best place to work”
- Monitor and follow up on daily attendance
- Perform daily Health & Safety walk, indoor and outdoor property
- Acting as a point of contact for all safety related inquiries and incidents
- Coordinate the application of Health and Safety (H&S) programs and ensuring adherence company wide according to ministry guidelines
- Managing related policies and programs, including legislatively required reviews and updates
- Manage the completion of Workplace Inspections as per ministry guidelines
- Manage and conduct meetings for Joint Health & Safety Committee as per ministry guidelines.
- Maintain employee training records and certifications, including the coordination of testing and recertification at prescribed frequencies
- Assist with creating, updating and executing in-house health and safety training programs (i.e. WHMIS, pedestrian safety, spill control, etc.)
- Review and update policies, procedures and related documents to ensure accuracy
- Assist operational leaders with incident investigations, corrective measure identification and monitor corrective measure completion
- Manage WSIB cases including reporting, return to work programs, assigning and monitoring light duty work
- Reporting on monthly statistics, trends and bringing forward suggestions on areas for improvement
- Develop training material and conduct training as required
Qualifications:
- Experience in Human Resources is preferred
- Excellent Time Management skills, strong verbal, and written communication skills
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety management, applicable federal, provincial, and municipal regulations
- A good understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, knowledge of additional governing health and safety laws, regulations, and standards.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite required, Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
- JHSC experience preferred
Salary: Negotiable based on experience
Hours of Work: 40-44 hours per week, Monday through Friday (with Sat availability as needed).

Position Requires a Personal Vehicle: No, but reliable transportation to get to work is required
