Job Title: Supervisor – Environmental Health & Safety

NOC Code: 22232

Description\Duties

  • Provide leadership and coordination of Health & Safety Prevention, Training and Supervision.
  • Responsible for management of daily facilities requirements
  • Perform training activities, both in a classroom setting and on the shop floor
  • Responsible for delivering and facilitating a wide variety of courses including Forklift, Overhead Crane, Lockout tag out and aerial work platform
  • Maintain an active presence on the production floor to provide coaching, mentoring, and support for all EHS and facility concerns
  • Act as a first point of contact for employees EHS and facilities concerns
  • Remain up to date with relevant legislation
  • Partner with the EHS Coordinator for the implementation and maintenance of EHS and facilities initiatives and programs
  • Ensure that all accidents, incidents, near misses and hazards are reported immediately to supervisors and EHS
  • Assist in the investigation of all accidents, incidents, near misses and hazards, to determine root cause and necessary corrective actions
  • Co-Chair in the company’s Joint Health and Safety Committee
  • Maintain Certification of all required EHS training, including train the trainer
  • Perform daily safety walks and inspections of facilities
  • Maintain EHS training matrix
  • Other duties, as assigned
  • Abide by all Company policies including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Environmental, Quality, Human Resources policies, and the Employee Handbook

Qualifications 

  • 3 years of experience in a health and safety position
  • 3 years of experience in an adult teaching / training role
  • Post-Secondary education in Health & Safety is an asset
  • JHSC Level 1 and 2
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong teamwork mentality
  • Ability to travel between PPHC facilities
  • Mindset for continuous improvement and innovation

Hours of Work: Full time
